Finding a newborn photographer that is right for you can be a daunting task simply because there seems to be so many out there these days. If you are looking for a Newborn and Baby Photographer Clyde there are literally hundreds of newborn photographers in Melbourne. While this is great as it may be a great thing because it means that the art of photography is still so valued, it can get really hard and overwhelming to choose one.

Great News is it doesn’t have to be and I’m going to share with you some insider tips that will help you narrow down your list of preferred newborn photographers and choose the one to photograph your beautiful baby.

1. Start looking after your 12 Week Scan

Start looking for a newborn photographer well before your baby’s due date. The reason being as many of the good and sought out photographers will already be booked up months in advance

Try Google by typing “newborn photographer (your suburb)” to see if there are any near you.

You want to avoid disappointment by making sure you secure your session well before baby arrives. Newborns are only newborns for a short period of time. Alana taylor Photography prefers to photograph babies when they are between 5 and 21 days old and will not photograph a baby if they are older than 4 weeks.

I do photograph babies up until they are 4 weeks old however, I explain to parents that we may not get as many of those beautifully posed and sleepy shots.

2. Newborn Safety Training and Vaccinations

Please make sure the photographer you choose is trained in newborn safety training. There is a lot of skill involved in posing babies safely whilst also ensuring they are comfortable. An experienced newborn photographer knows how to read your baby and assess whether or not the pose is comfortable and safe for your baby

Vaccination is another important aspect in newborn safety. It is important to ask if your photographer’s vaccinations are up to date particularly for whooping cough.

3. Do you like the Photographer’s Style

What are you drawn to? Are you drawn to Simple, Classic and not posed? Or do you like posed and colourful?

Look at photographers websites and look for examples of their work and to get a sense of their style of photography.

4. Do they offer Artwork and Products or do you want the Digital Images?

Most people these days want digitals so they can print and use the images as much as they like. But maybe you are looking for something more? Maybe you want Artwork and products

Most newborn and baby photographers use professional print labs that aren’t available to the general public to print their work. The quality is not something you will get a kmart or cheap printing kiosks. Professionally Printed photos and albums are far more superior than what’s available anywhere else.

5. Distance.

If you have narrowed down your search to style and budget you now need to make sure the photographer is a feasible distance from you.
