WHAT IS THE BEST AGE FOR A CAKE SMASH?

Let's spill the cakey beans! The ideal time for our epic Cake Smash sessions? Your little rockstar at around 10-11 months. Why, you ask? Because at this magical age, they haven't developed any food sensory drama yet, and they're totally cool with getting gloriously messy.

Now, fast forward to the over-1-year-old crew. Sometimes, they might not be as thrilled about the mess – we get it, cleanliness vibes! Plus, they're probably mastering the art of walking, making a Cake Smash a bit of a challenge for our wobbly walkers. We wouldn't want them tripping over their own fabulousness!

So, let's time it right and capture that delightful pre-walking, messy-loving phase for the ultimate cake-smashing success!

While most parents dive into the frosting frenzy around the first birthday, we're flexible and ready to capture the adorable chaos anywhere from 10 to 14 months of age. Because cake smashing knows no age boundaries!

CAN THE CAKE BE SUGAR FREE?

Unfortunately my cake supplier can not supply sugar free cakes. Our supplier's hands are tied in a sugary knot as Icing and fondant cannot be sugar-free, so unless you have a cake without any icing or fondant for decorations its just not possible. So if you or your little one dreams of sugar-free sweetness, feel free to source your own cake.

CAN THE CAKE BE CATERED FOR EGG FREE/DAIRY FREE ETC?

Yes of course! Our cake supplier is an allergen ninja, ready to dodge eggs, dairy, and more. Just a heads up – customized cake protection comes with a sweet $10 upgrade.

 

CAN WE HAVE OUR SESSION ON THE WEEKEND?

No weekend fiestas here Im sorry, my frosting warriors! Cake Smash sessions are strictly weekday affairs, sandwiched between school hours. Weekends? Oh, they're designated for serious icing recovery – our frosting superheroes need their sweet rest!

MAY I INVITE FAMILY MEMBERS TO THE SESSION?

It's a family affair, but keep it cozy! Your session is like a VIP cake club – exclusive to 2 adults. Too many chefs (or aunties and uncles) in the kitchen might distract the cake VIP (your little one), so keep it to the inner circle.

 

DO YOU INCLUDE THE CAKE AND DECORATIONS?

Cake – check! Decorations – check! We've got the whole cake shabang covered. Our professional cake baker crafts the centerpiece, and we bring the props and pizzazz. Have a wild idea? Let's chat and see if we can make it cake-tastic!

Yes! Alana Taylor Photography hires a professional cake maker to bake and decorate all my cakes! For this reason please let me know if your little one has ANY allergy so we can discuss options.

WHAT IF MY BABY DOESNT EAT THE CAKE?

Cake critique alert! Babies can be picky cake critics – some dive right in, some prefer cake artistry and cake smashing over consumption. No worries, whatever the cake journey, embrace it! Make sure you have a backup plan and bring along some MumMum Crackers or your baby's favorite treat. Cake bribery is a real thing!

Pro tip: Before the grand cake spectacle, treat your tiny Picasso to a cupcake trial. This way, your child will be familiar with the process and will know that they can smash the cake and hopefully eat it too!

CAN WE HAVE FAMILY PHOTOS AT THE SAME TIME?

I cannot do normal baby photos or Family or sibling photos during a cake smash session. Cake Smash Sessions is for Cake Smash photos only
