WHAT IS THE BEST AGE FOR A CAKE SMASH

Let’s spill the cakey beans 🍰 - the sweet spot for a Cake Smash Photography Session is when your little legend is around 10–11 months old.

 

Why. Because they’re usually still blissfully unaware of food textures and totally happy to get gloriously messy.

Once they hit the Big ONE, some babies develop a bit of a “not sure about this icing in my toes” attitude.

Plus, many are already on the Move - and Wobbly Walkers + Cake Chaos = Comedy (and Clean-up).

That said, Cake Smash Sessions can absolutely be done anytime between 10 and 14 months. Whether it’s before the party or after the birthday candles have been blown out, I’ll be here to capture the cute, the chaos, and the crumbs.

CAN THE CAKE BE CATERED FOR EGG-FREE, DAIRY-FREE OR OTHER ALLERGIES

Yes, absolutely! My cake supplier is an allergen ninja - ready to dodge eggs, dairy, gluten and more.
Custom allergen cakes are available for a small $10 upgrade. Just mention any allergies once your booking fee has been paid and received.  We can then plan accordingly.

 

WANT A HEALTHIER SUGAR FREE CAKE INSTEAD
My Cake Maker can absolutely create a sugar-free cake option for you for an additional $30.

Our sugar-free cakes must be made with buttercream only, as there’s no suitable substitute for fondant when creating sugar-free designs. This ensures the cake still looks beautiful, photographs perfectly, and keeps that signature cake smash magic intact!

My private, purpose-built photography studio is located in Clyde, in Melbourne’s South East suburbs.

All Sessions are held exclusively in-studio - I do not offer in-home or on-location Cake Smash sessions.

 

WHEN ARE CAKE SMASH SESSIONS AVAILABLE

All sessions take place on Weekdays during School Hours.
Please Note: Weekends are reserved for family time and are not available for Bookings.

It’s a family affair - but keep it cozy! Your session is like a VIP Cake Smash Club, exclusive to 2 adults only.

Too many extras in the studio can overwhelm your little one and distract from the fun - so let’s keep it to the immediate crew.

Yes, a Cakeof your choice is included. I work with a professional cake maker to design your custom cake, and I take care of all the creative details - from props to colours and every sprinkle in between.

WHAT IF MY BABY DOESN’T EAT THE CAKE

Cake critique alert! Some babies dive right in, others prefer to admire from a distance, and some… just judge it.

It’s all part of the experience! I recommend bringing some Mum-Mum crackers or your child’s favourite snack as backup. Cake bribery is totally real.

 

Pro Tip: Give your baby a cupcake trial at home a few days before - a little frosting rehearsal can go a long way!

 

WILL PARENTS GET MESSY DURING THE CAKE SMASH

Oh yes, you will! 🎂 You’re not just spectators - you’re part of the frosting-fuelled chaos!

You might even need to show your little one how to smash it right (yes, that means taste-testing!).

Wardrobe Tip: Skip your Sunday best. Frosting and fashion don’t always get along.

 

CAN SIBLINGS OR PARENTS BE INCLUDED IN THE PHOTOS

Absolutely! Parents and/or siblings are more than welcome to join in for a few portraits either before the cake comes out or even during the messier moments. Photos are taken in front of the Cake Smash setup only (I don’t switch backdrops during the session).

WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE THE PHOTOS

Photo Magic doesn’t happen overnight - but it’s worth the wait!

 

Here’s the Timeline:

• Sneak Peek: Within 12 days on Facebook and Instagram
• Proof Gallery: 14-16 days after your session
• Image Selection: You’ll have 1 week to make your choices
• Final Edits: Delivered within 7–9 days after selection

 

✨ The Entire Process typically takes around 3.5 weeks, depending on how quickly you make your selections.

A Booking Fee is required via bank deposit to secure your session.
The remaining balance is due on the day and can be paid by cash or bank transfer - whichever suits you best!
